On August 10, 2022, the Centreville Upward Youth program announced B.J. Koubaroulis a Director of the program. Upward is a K-6 youth basketball program that serves between 300-400 players every winter. Below is the announcement:

"Centreville Upward Family,

After the unfortunate cancelation of this past season, it is with great excitement that we can officially announce that preparations are being made for the 2023 Winter Basketball season! Open registration will begin on September 1st at 7:00 PM. Be on the lookout for a registration link to come from this email address on August 25th.

Additionally, this season we will welcome a new Co-Director, BJ Koubaroulis (pictured below)! BJ will be working alongside Co-Director, Sean Gray, who we welcomed last year. B.J. is a long-time area basketball coach who has been a part of the Upward program for the past six years. He has three daughters, ages 11, 9 and 6 and he and his wife Danielle live in the Virginia Run community in Centreville, Va. Koubaroulis has coached softball, baseball, basketball, soccer and is focused on teaching the game as well as ensuring an inclusive style of coaching as well as putting a focus on keeping the game fun. Koubaroulis is a small business-owner whose company broadcasts sports to major networks like ESPN, among others. You can reach B.J. directly at bkoub23@gmail.com Our former longtime Director, Chris Granberg, will continue to be an integral part of our program, but felt that it was time to ste[ back from the role of Director.

All general inquiries can be sent to upward@centreville-umc.org. Hope to see you all out on the court this winter! "
